Apple TV+ has given a straight-to-series order to ‘Margo’s Got Money Troubles’, an adaptation of the upcoming novel by Rufi Thorpe. The series will star Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman, with David E. Kelley writing and showrunning. A24 is the studio behind the project.
The eight-episode series follows Margo Millet, played by Fanning, the daughter of a Hooters waitress and an ex-pro wrestler. As an unemployed single mother in her early 20s struggling to make ends meet, she launches an OnlyFans account. When her father re-enters her life, she incorporates his pro wrestling lessons into her OnlyFans work, leading to unexpected success.
Kelley serves as writer, showrunner, and executive producer via David E. Kelley Productions. Fanning executive produces alongside Dakota Fanning and Brittany Kahan Ward for Lewellen Pictures. Kidman and Per Saari executive produce via Blossom Films, with Matthew Tinker, Checka Propper, and Thorpe also executive producing.
This marks the fourth collaboration between Kidman and Kelley, following ‘Big Little Lies’, ‘The Undoing’, and ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’. It is also Kelley’s second series for Apple, after the upcoming ‘Presumed Innocent’. Fanning recently starred in ‘The Great’ and ‘The Girl From Plainville’, while Kidman is an Oscar-winning actress with recent TV success in ‘Big Little Lies’.
