The Teacher Series 2: Start Date, Cast, and Plot on Channel 5

Channel 5's hit drama The Teacher returns for a second series on Monday, September 9 at 9pm, with a new cast and storyline. The first series, starring Sheridan Smith, drew millions of viewers in 2022. The new four-part series follows art teacher Dani Oxley, played by Kara Tointon, as she embarks on a reckless affair with a colleague.

The plot centres on Dani, who feels trapped in a passionless marriage and seeks excitement with fellow teacher Jimmy Spencer (Will Mellor). During a school trip to an outdoor adventure centre, the pair engage in a spontaneous romantic encounter, leaving students unattended. A troubled teenager goes missing, and Dani must grapple with the consequences of her actions.

According to the official synopsis, Dani's affair initially fulfills her desires but quickly spirals out of control. When a pupil disappears, she blames herself for being distracted. As events take a sinister turn, she is forced to lie and risks everything to right the wrongs she has partly caused.
