Channel 4 is set to broadcast the debut of Falling, a six-part drama exploring a forbidden romance between a devoted nun and an alluring Catholic priest. The series comes from the creator behind Netflix's Adolescence, Jack Thorne, and boasts a star-studded cast.

Falling launches this evening, Tuesday, May 19, at 9pm on Channel 4. The second episode airs in the same slot tomorrow, Wednesday, May 20, with subsequent episodes expected to follow this Tuesday and Wednesday pattern.

The drama features an impressive ensemble cast. Nun Anna is portrayed by Keeley Hawes, known for Line of Duty, Bodyguard, Spooks, Miss Austen, and The Assassin. Joining her is Paapa Essiedu, star of Black Mirror, The Capture, and I May Destroy You, as the captivating Catholic priest David.
Other prominent names include Adrian Scarborough (Gavin and Stacey), Jason Watkins (The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries), and Rakie Ayola (Holby City), among others.
Plot
Falling centres on the illicit love affair between Catholic priest David (Essiedu) and dedicated nun Anna (Hawes). They must grapple not only with their emerging emotions for each other but also their faith journeys.
The official synopsis reads: 'After years of their lives spent dedicated to service, a chance encounter and a misunderstanding threatens to change everything they've ever known. As Anna begins a new life outside of the convent walls, and David battles to instigate change in a community that desperately needs support, they must each wrestle with their own desires, fears and secrets.'
