Eve Myles Stars in ITV's New Crime Thriller Gone
Welsh actress Eve Myles takes on the role of Detective Annie Cassidy in ITV's brand new six-part crime thriller Gone. The series, which is set and filmed in Bristol, follows the investigation into the disappearance of Sarah, the wife of local headmaster Michael Polly, portrayed by David Morrissey. Michael quickly becomes the prime suspect in the case, leading to a tense and gripping narrative.
A Compelling Detective Drama with a Star-Studded Cast
Created by George Kay, known for his work on shows like Lupin, Hijack, and The Long Shadow, Gone features an impressive ensemble cast. Alongside Eve Myles and David Morrissey, the series includes Emma Appleton, Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, Nicholas Nunn, Elliot Cowan, Billy Barratt, Rupert Evans, Jodie McNee, Oscar Batterham, Clare Higgins, and Claire Goose.
Eve Myles describes her character Annie as a super bright, gutsy detective with an unshakeable sense of justice, who is not afraid to break the rules when necessary. Reflecting on what attracted her to the project, Eve shared: If I get scared about something, I know it's absolutely for me and that it's the next thing I should do. If I read something or get involved in something and feel comfortable, then I've already done it, so it's time to move on. There are issues in this particular piece that I felt I wanted to give voice to. The tone and vision Richard Laxton created was intoxicating. Everything came together like a chemistry set, hopefully we've created a story people really invest in.
Eve Myles' Extensive Television Career
Born in Ystradgynlais, Wales, Eve Myles has built a remarkable television career over the years. She first gained recognition for her role as Ceri in the BBC series Belonging, a breakthrough part she maintained for nine years after joining in 2000. However, she is perhaps most celebrated for her portrayal of Gwen Cooper in the hugely successful science fiction series Torchwood, a spin-off from Doctor Who.
From 2017, Eve took the lead in the critically acclaimed crime drama Keeping Faith, playing Faith Howells, a solicitor who returns early from maternity leave after her husband Evan disappears. Her other notable television roles include:
- Claire Ripley in Broadchurch
- Lauren Grey in You, Me and Them
- Mrs Jenkins in Victoria
- Caitlin Henderson in Cold Feet
- DS Lola Franks in We Hunt Together
- Alice Sinclair in Hijack
More recently, Eve has appeared as DCI Jeanette Kilburn in The Crow Girl, Fran Sharp in The Guest, Jacqui Hames in The Hack, and Rebecca in Coldwater.
Family Life with Actor Husband Bradley Freegard
Away from her acting commitments, Eve Myles enjoys a fulfilling family life with her husband, fellow Welsh actor Bradley Freegard, and their three children. Bradley, who hails from Pontypridd, is best known for his role as King Canute in the Netflix hit Vikings: Valhalla. He has also appeared in the Welsh language series Gwaith/Cartref as Mei Huws.
Audiences may recognise Bradley from starring opposite his wife in Keeping Faith, where he played her fictional vanishing husband Evan. His other significant credits include Holby City, Hinterland, Under Milk Wood, and EastEnders.
Eve and Bradley tied the knot in an intimate Italian ceremony in 2013, with their three-year-old daughter Matilda as their only guest. The couple had been together for 15 years before finally marrying, having initially met at the National Youth Theatre in the 1990s. Eve explained: It was heaven on earth. I'd put my wedding off three times because of work commitments. This time I said we're not putting it off this time, we're getting married this year.
