Emmerdale's Violent Death Scene Sparks Ofcom Investigation

Emmerdale has received over a hundred complaints to Ofcom following a violent death scene aired last week. The ITV soap depicted the murder of fan-favourite character Mackenzie 'Mack' Boyd, played by Lawrence Robb, in a brutal attack involving a crossbow and a rock.

The broadcast regulator confirmed it had received 158 official complaints about the episode, which aired on Thursday. An Ofcom spokesperson stated the complaints were 'related to violent scenes involving a character’s death'.

In the storyline, Mack uncovered evidence that John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) was lying about his past and had murdered Nate Robinson. As John realised Mack was onto him, a confrontation ensued, leading to Mack fleeing through the woods before being caught and killed.

This is not the first time Emmerdale has faced complaints over violent content. Earlier this month, viewers complained after Vinny Dingle (Bradley Johnson) was subjected to a horrific attack during a date gone wrong.

The show continues to air dramatic storylines, with recent reports suggesting actor Lawrence Robb is leaving the soap after Mack's death.
