John Sugden's time on Emmerdale is running out, but the killer had one more victim in mind. In a shocking twist, John framed his half-brother Robert for pushing both him and Aaron off a cliff to their near deaths. However, viewers know that John was responsible for the fall, as part of his plan to ensure Robert never had the life he couldn't have.
In tonight's episode, John visited Aaron in hospital, where both are still patients, and tried to ensure Aaron wouldn't survive the fall. Alarms went off, and nurses rushed to Aaron's aid while John attempted to escape. He convinced Cain, who is unaware of John's true nature, to take him away from the hospital.
At the end of the episode, a terrified Aaron woke up and told Chas and Liam that they needed to get John. Barely able to speak, he revealed that John had Mackenzie, finally exposing the truth. Chas and Liam rushed to apprehend John but found Victoria, who said John had discharged himself. She ran outside but failed to stop him before he sped off.
Actor Danny Miller, who plays Aaron, teased a positive future for Aaron and Robert, saying: 'I do think they’re supposed to be together. This is the opportunity for Robert to express that and Aaron manages to find a way of pushing him away because he knows from previous experiences that him and Robert shouldn’t work, although they do work.'
Miller added: 'John’s back is well and truly against the wall and he’s running out of options. I don’t think even John knows what he wants to do to get himself out of the situation, but what he does know is that he doesn’t want to lose the battle to Robert.'
