Emmerdale's Dr Todd is dead, and her killer has been revealed as Sarah Sugden, after a showdown with Charity Dingle turned fatal. The accidental murder occurred when Sarah shoved Todd, causing her to slip on a rug and hit her head against a table, leading to her death.
Accidental Death Shocks Sarah and Charity
Sarah and Charity watched in horror as Todd lay dead on the floor, with a bloody cut on her head. Todd had returned to the village after weeks away to accuse Charity of lying about her, following the closure of a police investigation.
Charity had reported Todd after Todd sexually assaulted her in horrific scenes. Todd had previously blackmailed Charity over the baby lie, having discovered that baby Leyla is actually Charity's daughter with Ross Barton, not Sarah's child as Sarah believes.
Secret Baby Lie at Risk
Sarah currently thinks Leyla is her child, as Charity was a surrogate for her. This secret was about to be exposed when Todd threatened to tell Sarah, leaving Charity rattled and demanding Todd leave. Sarah, having just walked in on Charity confronting Todd about the rape ordeal, was in a state. When Sarah called Todd a monster and Todd laughed, Sarah saw red and pushed her, causing the fatal accident.
Fallout Teased in Spoilers
In Monday's episode, Sarah and Charity will be frantic over what has just happened. As they reel over their actions, their lives are turned upside down. Spoilers tease tension as they decide what to do next, and whether Sarah will be forced to leave the village if her crime is exposed.
Charity is still holding onto another secret: the baby lie remains unexposed. On Monday, viewers will see this secret weigh on her as she clings to it, hoping to keep it from Sarah. Meanwhile, Sarah and Charity will react to Todd's death and its aftermath.
If Sarah is caught, it could mean an exit for the character. So, is Sarah set for prison, and will actress Katie Hill be leaving the role? All will be revealed in the coming episodes.
