Emmerdale viewers were stunned on Thursday as newcomer Celia was unmasked as the true villain behind the County Lines drug operation. Introduced weeks ago as a farmer, Celia has been revealed as the mastermind, with Ray merely her puppet.
In a shocking twist, Celia is revealed to be Ray's 'mum'—she raised him after finding him on the streets years ago. Ray's fierce behaviour is all an act, as shown when Celia reduced him to a cowering wreck. It is Celia who is in charge, orchestrating the drug dealing that has dragged teens April and Dylan into danger.
Thursday's episode saw Celia threaten April after the teen accidentally dropped drugs at her home. Forcing April to lie to the police, Celia vowed to stop her from exposing the operation. Actress Jaye Griffiths, who plays Celia, confirmed more drama ahead: 'At last the audience have seen the familial link... There is lots more drama to come.'
Emmerdale has worked closely with The Salvation Army for this storyline. The show airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
