Emmerdale stars Jeff and Zoe launch allotment project

Emmerdale actors Jeff Hordley and Zoe Henry, who play Cain Dingle and Rhona Goskirk, have given fans a rare glimpse into their lives away from the ITV soap by launching a joint Instagram account dedicated to their real-life allotment.

The couple, who have been together for over three decades after meeting at drama school in the early 1990s, married in 2003 around the same time they both made their debuts in the long-running soap.

Allotment project highlighted on This Morning

Their joint venture was featured on Wednesday's This Morning (August 12), when soap expert Sharon Marshall highlighted it to presenters Andi Peters and Rochelle Humes.

As a clip from their Instagram account played, Sharon explained: "They've opened up their real-life allotments at home, and it's Jeff bringing out sugarpeas and his beetroots. It's lovely! They got about half a million followers overnight."

She added: "It's lovely, calming. They take you around the allotment, and they tell you what they're harvesting this week."

Fans praise wholesome content

Rochelle Humes complimented the venture, calling it a 'wholesome' thing to do and admitting it's the type of page she wants to see on her own account.

On their account, fans can see the couple harvesting vegetables and sharing updates on how things are growing. In one video, they were joined by co-star Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, as they gave him a tour of their thriving patch.

Soap fans have praised the content, with one commenting: "Yes to your page cutting through all the toxic content online and making its way to my feed. So lovely to see people in their happy place with friends and family sharing in the joy."

Another wrote: "What a gorgeous allotment.. lovely to see you all." Others added: "Loving these videos. Thank you," "Looks amazing. Well done, Jeff and Zoe," and "Fabulous allotment. Well done to you both."

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV, while Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX.
