Emmerdale actor Dominic Brunt has suggested that three characters could be heading for prison following a dramatic new twist. The star, who plays Paddy Dingle, hinted that his character believes he, his father Bear Wolf, and teenager Dylan Penders are all doomed after their involvement in the death of Ray Walters.
Viewers know that Bear accidentally killed Ray, who had exploited him in a modern slavery plot, after the villain tried to kill Paddy and Dylan. The trio subsequently attempted to cover up the crime, with Bear eventually confessing to the accidental death. However, in upcoming scenes, Bear panics during another police interview and claims he deliberately killed Ray in a bid to protect Paddy and Dylan from being implicated.
Dominic Brunt explained that Paddy is convinced this means the end of the line for all of them. He said: "Paddy thinks they're all going to prison now, and that's the end of the line. After everything they've done, he thinks they're all doomed. It's about telling the truth now after months of lying so there's got to be repercussions of that."
The actor also revealed that Paddy is worried about what Bear might say next, while being even more concerned for his father's mental state. He noted that DS Walsh is convinced of Paddy's involvement and described her as "absolutely cracking" and brilliant at her job. With the pressure mounting, Paddy and Dylan decide it is time to reveal what really happened, though Paddy is eager to keep Dylan out of it, fearing prison would ruin the teenager's life.
Brunt admitted that Paddy himself would not cope well behind bars, describing his character as weak and likely to be exploited. He also said Paddy would struggle to forgive himself if Bear is sent down, feeling guilty for the entire situation and constantly blaming himself for making things worse. Emmerdale airs weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
