Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) took it upon herself to uncover what Serena Sugden (Casey Al-Shaqsy) was hiding in Emmerdale, and the information she discovered proved highly damaging. This week, Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) became convinced that Serena was involved when Robert Sugden (Ryan Hawley) was knocked down by a rolling trailer. Serena happened to be the first to find Robert, and Aaron believed she had set up the accident.
Aaron's Suspicion Grows
Serena and Robert's relative, John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth), had a history of creating dangerous situations and then swooping in to save people, relishing the hero praise. Aaron was convinced Serena sought the same thrill. Unable to prove his theory, Aaron ranted to Chas at the pub, and they agreed to keep an eye on Serena.
Chas Takes Action
In the latest episode, Chas decided to confront Serena directly, asking why she was really in Emmerdale. Serena claimed she didn't plan to stay but chose to because she missed Robert and enjoyed getting to know Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill). During their chat, Chas spotted Serena's phone PIN, hugged her, and pocketed the device.
The Damning Photo
The phone contained images that changed everything. It revealed that Serena had seen John during the period he was on the run. In autumn of last year, John left for Rotterdam after a deal with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), then went to France and eventually returned to England. The photo showed Serena and John posing at what appeared to be a summer BBQ, with John in a t-shirt, lush green trees, and grass untouched by winter. This contradicted Serena's earlier claim that she hadn't seen John for a few years.
Serena's Departure
Aaron, Chas, and Robert refused to accept Serena's excuses. The photo proved she saw John just months ago. They told her to leave. Serena packed her car and attempted to hug Robert, but he rejected her. As she drove out of Emmerdale Farm, Aaron stated her leaving was for the best. However, it remains uncertain if this is the last of Serena.
