Emmerdale viewers are speculating that Mackenzie Boyd may still be alive, despite seemingly being bludgeoned to death by John Sugden in Wednesday night's episode. The character, played by Lawrence Robb, was chased through the woods by John (Oliver Farnworth) after discovering a connection between John and the death of Nate Robinson. Pursued by John, Mack was shot with an arrow before begging for his life as he lay against a tree stump.
John raised a boulder above his head and slammed it down, saying, 'I really don't want to make you suffer any more than you have to.' He later returned to the village, wiping blood off his van before going abroad with Aaron Dingle. A body under a sheet was seen in the back of the van, with more blood nearby.
However, some fans are not convinced Mack is dead. One wrote on X: 'Wait? Is that Mack in the back of the van? Can't wait for him to wake up and save Aaron tomorrow - there'll be a crash.' Another said: 'Mack's not dead til body turns up, fake out coming.' A third questioned: 'Is Mack dead or not? Will we find out tomorrow? I think that he will live.'
Others speculated that John may have chickened out at the last second or used the rock to break the arrow tip. One fan suggested Mack might be tied up in a barn. However, some viewers believe he is dead, with one writing: 'OH. MY. GOD. What an intense episode. Mack really IS dead after all! Actually shocked it was so soon.'
Actor Lawrence Robb previously teased that his character could face 'a very bleak outcome.' Asked if Mack could bring John down, he said: 'There's certainly a chance Mackenzie has the capability to bring John down. But there's potentially a very bleak outcome on the horizon.' Regarding Mack and Charity's romance, he added: 'It's not looking good.' Emmerdale continues Thursday at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
