Emmerdale: Callum's Fate Sealed in Dramatic Armed Stand-Off

Emmerdale viewers witnessed the dramatic exit of villain Callum on Thursday night, a year after he first appeared on the soap. His departure came during a tense armed stand-off with police, following his attempt to kill Leyla Harding.

Callum had kidnapped Leyla earlier in the week, days after attacking her friend Suzy with a brick and leaving her for dead. The women had reported his drug dealing to the police after Callum accidentally stabbed Leyla's son Jacob earlier this year. Jacob survived, but Leyla realised they couldn't go to the authorities because Jacob had been in possession of the knife.

Instead, she filmed Callum dealing drugs in a club and had him arrested. Suzy also spread claims among his criminal associates that he was an informant. In retaliation, Callum attacked Suzy and kidnapped Leyla, holding her hostage in a disused building in the woods. Suzy managed to track down their location and set off to rescue Leyla with Jacob. Police were also called, and armed officers soon surrounded the building.

Inside, Callum pulled out a gun and threatened to shoot Jacob. Leyla pleaded with him to kill her instead, while Suzy begged for their lives. As Callum prepared to fire, police made contact, urging him to leave the building and put down his weapon. He emerged to find armed officers with red dot sights trained on him. Realising there was no escape, he eventually surrendered and was arrested.

Callum was charged with kidnap, false imprisonment, and possession of a firearm. Jacob, Leyla, and Suzy were left terrified but relieved. Jacob comforted his mother, telling her it was finally over. There are no current plans for Leyla or Suzy to leave the village, while Callum is believed to have made his final appearance.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
