Emmerdale viewers were left stunned on Thursday as John Sugden's murderous past was finally exposed, leading to a dramatic rescue and a potential new killing. The truth came to light after weeks of Robert Sugden's warnings about his brother being a killer were dismissed by villagers.
In a tense episode, Aaron Dingle managed to raise the alarm after waking from a coma, revealing that John was holding Mack Boyd captive. Police and Charity Dingle launched a desperate search, eventually finding an empty bunker with a syringe left behind. John later rushed Mack to hospital, claiming he had overdosed, before fleeing the scene.
Mack survived and regained consciousness in an emotional reunion with Charity. Meanwhile, John remained at large as the village realised he was responsible for Nate Robinson's murder and other crimes. Robert Sugden, who had been arrested for attempted murder, awaited release now that his innocence was proven.
Fans are now speculating that a murder twist is imminent, with Cain Dingle learning that John killed his son Nate. Social media predictions suggest Cain may seek revenge, with one viewer writing: 'Do we think John ends up in prison or will someone (probably Cain) kill him?' Another added: 'John better run far away before Cain and Caleb catch him. Cain definitely gonna see red.'
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, with an hour-long episode on Thursdays.
