Emmerdale viewers have expressed concern for character Liam Cavanagh following the announcement of a crossover episode with Coronation Street, set to air in January 2026. The special event, dubbed 'Corriedale', will centre on a multi-vehicle pile-up on a dark country road near the fictional village of Hotten.
A teaser trailer released on 1 December shows emergency services arriving at the scene, with characters from both soaps involved in the crash. The plot details remain largely under wraps, but the collision is expected to spark revenge and other storylines.
Fans have taken to social media to share their theories, with one writing: 'As long as it’s not Aaron or Robert. I’m thinking maybe Liam.' Another said: 'I'm worried about Liam. I really like him.' Others speculated about the involvement of character John, while some drew comparisons to Emmerdale's previous limo-in-the-lake storyline.
The crossover will feature Coronation Street's Vicky Myers as Lisa Swain and Emmerdale's Danny Miller as Aaron Dingle. Emmerdale's Emma Atkins has confirmed filming 'flirty' scenes with Corrie's Alison King, though these may be part of viewer-voted content. Voting for additional scenes opens on 1 January.
ITV will broadcast a one-hour special episode, with further cast members yet to be announced. Hints have been spotted in recent episodes, including Belle Dingle's references to a Manchester-based wedding client, potentially linking to Debbie Webster's Christmas wedding plans.
