Emmerdale Faces Ofcom Complaints Over Violent Axe Scenes

Emmerdale has been hit with a string of Ofcom complaints following violent murder scenes that aired earlier this month. The ITV soap received 73 complaints for its dramatic episode on Thursday, September 4, when Mackenzie 'Mack' Boyd was threatened with an axe by killer John Sugden.

Viewers took to social media to express their outrage, with one fan calling it 'the cruellest thing Emmerdale has ever done'. Another wrote: 'I can’t believe it looks like Mack is actually getting killed.' Mack ultimately survived the attack but was later captured and injected by John.

The storyline has continued with John throwing himself and Aaron Dingle off a cliff in an attempt to frame Robert Sugden. Actor Ryan Hawley teased: 'Everything is getting blamed on Robert and no one believes him. Maybe Robert might leave - maybe.'

Mackenzie star Lawrence Robb admitted he felt 'deceitful' keeping the secret that his character was alive, but said he is looking forward to viewers seeing the drama unfold. The fate of Aaron and John remains uncertain as the cliffhanger leaves fans guessing which character, if any, will survive.
