Emmerdale fans believe they have worked out Nicola King’s next romance in the village. Viewers have predicted that Nicola (played by Nicola Wheeler) could get together with Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson) after the reported death of her husband Jimmy King (Nick Miles).
Fan Predictions on Social Media
Writing on an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, viewers have tipped Jai as Nicola’s new love interest. One person said: “Nicola and Jai should get together when Jimmy dies.” Another added: “Yes they would be good together.” Echoing their thoughts, a third chimed in: “Wouldn’t be the strangest soap pairings!”
Both Nicola and Jai have been in the soap for years and have shared various dramatic storylines, workplace run-ins and neighborhood dynamics.
Jimmy's Reported Exit
Earlier this year it was reported that Jimmy King was going to be killed off after decades on the soap. It has been speculated that his exit could have something to do with the return of Jimmy's ex-wife, Sadie King (Patsy Kensit), which was also recently confirmed.
A source told The Sun: “Bosses are under pressure to cut costs and sadly that means popular cast members being told their time is up.” They also claimed: “Once the decision was made that Nick would be leaving, the writers quickly realised his character wouldn’t abandon his wife and children so they had to kill him off.”
Nicola's Recent Storylines
Nicola made her debut on the soap back in 2011. As the village busybody, she quickly became a firm favourite with the show’s loyal legion of fans. She has also played a part in lots of big storylines, from her experience with physical and psychological trauma to her beloved romance with Jimmy.
Recently, Nicola has been dealing with Kev Barton (Chris Coghill), who came back to the village hoping to bond with his biological son, Lewis (Bradley Riches). Her relationship with Jimmy has also gone through a rough patch, with Nicola attempting to put the spark back in their marriage.
