Emmerdale has received another wave of Ofcom complaints, with 158 viewers objecting to violent scenes aired last week. The broadcast regulator confirmed the complaints were related to the death of fan favourite Mackenzie 'Mack' Boyd, played by Lawrence Robb.
In the episode, Mack was killed by John Sugden after uncovering evidence that John had murdered Nate Robinson. The attack involved a crossbow shooting and a blow to the head with a rock. This follows a separate incident earlier this month where Vinny Dingle was violently attacked, which also prompted complaints.
The scenes have sparked criticism from fans who deemed the violence excessive. Ofcom will assess the complaints but has yet to announce whether they will investigate. The storyline sees John frame another character, Owen, for Nate's death, with Mack's discovery leading to his fatal confrontation.
Lawrence Robb's departure from the soap has been reported, with his character's death marking the end of his tenure. The ITV serial continues to air weeknights.
