Emmerdale has confirmed that Robert Sugden and Aaron Dingle will still tie the knot, but fans will have to be patient. Producer Laura Shaw revealed the wedding is definitely happening, but not until 2027.
Speaking to Metro during a visit to the set, Shaw said: “I mean, it’s Robron! Of course I’m going to want a wedding at some point when the time feels right.”
The couple got engaged in the crossover event Corriedale, and while wedding plans have been quiet since, the show hasn’t forgotten about the big day.
What’s next for Robron?
Shaw explained that for now, the couple are focusing on Emmerdale Farm. “I think at the moment, they’ve just got Emmerdale Farm, so they’re wanting to build that. What we’re going to see over the next few weeks and coming months is Robert starting empire build a little bit, a bit more of the Sugdens back in the fold, putting their name back on the map, so I think they’re going to be concentrating on that for a little while but, you know, 2027 watch out!”
That suggests the wedding could happen at any point in 2027, with no exact date confirmed. The Sugdens have been firmly back in focus in the village, with new addition Serena adding to their presence.
Shaw is also excited about bringing back Patsy Kensit as Sadie King. And this autumn, a stunt-filled, twist-laden, emotion-piling week of life-changing drama will rock the village.
‘So many shocks, so many twists’
Shaw enthused: “For the rest of the year, there are so many shocks, so many twists, so many turns. At the moment, we’ve just been planning Christmas and new year. And everything that we’ve got coming up then as well is absolutely going to be top notch. It’s so exciting.”
So while the Robron wedding confetti may be on hold, there’s plenty of drama to keep Emmerdale fans busy until 2027.
