When Jacob was about to report her harassment, Todd learned that Charity's baby was not the implanted embryo of Jacob and Sarah Sugden, but the product of a one-night stand between Charity and Ross Barton.
Using this information, Todd blackmailed Charity, demanding a huge sum of money to keep the truth about baby Leyla's parentage secret. Charity tried to comply, even attempting to sell her share of the Woolpack and robbing Home Farm with Chas, but couldn't raise the full amount. When Todd threatened to reveal the truth at Sarah's 21st birthday party, Charity called her bluff, and Todd backed down.
The Assault and Aftermath
With her power threatened, Todd took a more disgusting course of action: she raped a drunken Charity. In the aftermath, Charity crumbled, masking her mental health struggles as post-natal depression. She eventually revealed the truth to Mack and Vanessa, but the CPS refused to charge Todd due to lack of evidence, and the assault was legally classed as 'sexual assault' rather than rape because Todd is female.
