Patsy Kensit is returning to Emmerdale as Sadie King after 20 years away from the Yorkshire Dales. The actress first appeared as Sadie in 2004 as the glamorous and scheming wife of Jimmy King, before leaving in 2006 after being double-crossed by Cain Dingle.
Return of Sadie King
Kensit said: "I am really excited to return to Emmerdale. I treasure the years I was here before. Sadie King is a character that I really loved playing. The cast and crew are absolutely brilliant and I am so grateful for the chance to return to the show, it’s absolutely amazing."
Producer Laura Shaw added: "We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Patsy Kensit back to the cast, and crucially to see the iconic Sadie King storm back into the village. Her return will be explosive and guaranteed to shock. Sadie’s seductive demeanour, combined with her utterly ruthless nature, are set to deliver a spectacular and highly dramatic touch of class to the Yorkshire Dales."
Dynamic with Charity Dingle
Sadie and Charity Dingle have a long history as rivals. During Sadie's first stint, they had iconic moments including Charity's affair with Jimmy, Sadie sabotaging Charity's wedding to Tom King, and Charity crashing Jimmy's 40th to expose Sadie.
Emma Atkins, who plays Charity, told the Manchester Evening News and other press: "Really excited. I've seen her a few times now. I've not worked with her yet. I think we do the scenes while she arrives this week in the village, and, yeah, she's awesome, as always. And the fun that we have all that time ago, they're gonna kind of re enact a few moments that were there in the past, that a lot of audience, who remember those storylines, will be probably pleased to see again. Always a good dynamic with Charity and Sadie. So, I don't know whether I'll be working with her much, but, yeah, I welcome her back."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 8pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX and YouTube from 7am.
