An addictive drama filmed in a breathtaking Cornish village is now available to stream. British television series Delicious was written by Dan Sefton and directed by Clare Kilner and John Hardwick.
Plot and Setting
The programme, set against the stunning backdrop of Cornwall, centres on two women locked in conflict after being betrayed by the same man — and by one another. "When Cornish chef Gina discovers her ex-husband's secret life, her world turns upside down. Loyalties amongst Gina's friends are questioned as she reevaluates her relationships, and further drama, love, heartbreak and deception are brought to light within the community," reads the official synopsis.
A huge twist is revealed at the end of the opening episode, leaving both Gina and her rival Sam to face the devastating fallout.
Cast and Characters
Delicious boasts an impressive ensemble cast, with Dawn French taking on the role of Gina, while Silent Witness star Emilia Fox portrays Sam. The series also features Tanya Reynolds, Ruairí O'Connor, Iain Glen, Sheila Hancock, Risteárd Cooper, Franco Nero, Aaron Anthony, Rhashan Stone, and Vincent Regan. Supporting cast members include Vinette Robinson, Kemi-Bo Jacobs, Mark Letheren, Pandora Colin, Aidan McArdle, Cassie Clare, and Claudia Harrison.
Filming Locations
Delicious was largely filmed across South East Cornwall, with the magnificent Pentillie Castle doubling as Leo's Penrose Hotel. While numerous exterior sequences were captured at Pentillie Castle, the interior scenes were shot across several other stately homes, including Port Eliot and Boconnoc. The charming village of Calstock and its distinctive viaduct also served as the setting for the programme's village sequences and local pub scenes.

Audience Reception
Audiences have consistently expressed their admiration for the series, which has similarities to Doctor Foster. One IMDb reviewer commented: "Each actor wrapped their part in love. The talent of Dawn French has found a nest, a bespoke fit. Gina Benelli and her perfect counterpoint Samantha played masterfully by Emilia Fox. Loved it."
A second viewer remarked: "What a treat for both the eyes and the heart. There is drama, love and the realisation that they are really family underneath it all. A third season was added and I binge watched it and it drew me in even more. What is it about British shows, even Canadian and Australian shows that are so inviting and exciting to us? Delicious is no different. The characters are rich and complicated and you have definite feelings about each one of them."
A third commented: "The casting was superb. Watched it in a weekend, while packing. Will likely watch it again. Can't say enough about how great Dawn French and Emilia Fox are in this," while another likewise noted: "As a foodie, I found this series riveting."
A fifth viewer shared similar praise, commenting: "This is well written with lots of twists and turns. It's basically Crossroads for the middle classes! After binge-watching all eight episodes, I loved it!" while another contributed: "Superb and thought provoking. Marvellous setting, a relatively fresh approach, great actors and penetrative pathos."
