Channel 5 has confirmed that the second series of detective drama Ellis will premiere on Tuesday 10 March at 9pm. The first two episodes will air back-to-back on 10 and 11 March, with each pair of episodes covering a single case across the four-episode season.
Sharon D Clarke returns as DCI Ellis, alongside Andrew Gower as DS Chet Harper and Charlotte McCurry as DC Kate Trent. Guest stars for the new series include James Doran, Niamh Blackshaw, Cariad Lloyd, Keir Charles, Mark Addy, Stephen Tompkinson and Sonny Ashbourne Serkis.
The official synopsis reveals that Ellis will be parachuted into failing cases across northern England, tackling the suspicious death of a community leader in a rural village and the death of a young woman at a stone works, which uncovers a network of coercion and exploitation.
Paul Testar, commissioning editor for scripted at Channel 5, said: 'Following the huge success of the first series of Ellis, we are thrilled for it to return with the brilliant Sharon D Clarke and Andrew Gower reprising their roles.'
