EastEnders stars Adam Woodyatt and Michelle Collins have described their on-screen reunion as Ian and Cindy Beale as being like 'putting on an old pair of slippers'. The duo recently returned to the soap together for the first time in 25 years, with their characters reigniting their turbulent relationship.
Speaking to reporters, Woodyatt joked about the comfort of working with Collins again. 'Working with Michelle has been, no offense, like putting on an old pair of slippers. Comfortable and it just works.' He added with a laugh, 'She is going to kill me tomorrow.'
Collins admitted she was nervous about their first scene together, a six-page affair, but found the experience similarly familiar. 'By the end of it, yes it was like putting on a pair of old slippers,' she said, reminiscing about their past dynamic where they would 'spend our whole life squabbling.'
Woodyatt also noted a strange change upon returning: the set had been rebuilt. 'I got out the car yesterday morning, got out the right-hand side, and went 'Where is the square?'' he recalled.
In recent episodes, the Knight sisters discovered their mother is alive, leading to family tension. George Knight accidentally revealed his role in Cindy's extended absence, causing his daughters to walk out on him.
