EastEnders actress Shona McGarty has completed filming for her role as Whitney Dean, with her final scenes expected to air in June. The star, who has played the character for 15 years, was seen taking photos with fans as she left the BBC studios for the last time.
Whitney’s exit storyline has seen the return of Patsy Palmer as Bianca Jackson, who reprised her role for a brief stint. McGarty previously described her decision to leave as difficult but necessary, stating she wanted to pursue other opportunities after a long and fulfilling run on the soap.
Fans have speculated about Whitney’s departure, with some suggesting she may leave Walford with her baby, fathered by Zack Hudson. Others believe the door has been left open for a potential return, noting that the exit does not feel entirely final.
McGarty expressed gratitude for being entrusted with sensitive storylines over the years, adding that she will miss her colleagues but feels it is the right time to move on.
