In Thursday's episode of EastEnders, Joel Marshall was found unconscious with a head injury after being tied to a fence and doused with alcohol by a group of teenagers. The attack occurred following his return to Albert Square after a prison sentence for misogynistic behaviour, including recording himself with Avani Nandra-Hart without her consent.
The teens, including Amy Mitchell and Avani, planned to teach Joel a lesson, but left him alone for 45 minutes. When they returned, he was discovered unresponsive on the grass. Police launched an investigation, questioning the youths and their families.
In a dramatic twist, Barney Mitchell was seen with a hammer, begging his brother Harry for help. 'Please Harry, you've got to help me!' Barney exclaimed, breaking down in tears. The revelation strongly suggests Barney was responsible for the attack on Joel.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One, with episodes available earlier on BBC iPlayer.
