EastEnders fans are in for a surprise as Kat Slater makes a dramatic return to Albert Square, with her family initially planning her funeral. Jean and Mo Slater have already returned, with Mo claiming Kat is dead.
Actress Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey Slater, revealed the shake-up 'sort of ruins Stacey's life'. The Slaters' resurgence is driven by show boss John Yorke's desire to highlight strong, feisty women, a hallmark of the soap genre.
Turner noted the challenge of working with the returning cast: 'We're quite useless working together because all we do is laugh.' Kat's arrival shocks the community, which had rallied to hold a fundraiser for her funeral.
This isn't the first time EastEnders has welcomed back a fan favourite; Dirty Den famously returned in 2003 after being presumed dead.
