Sharon Watts has made an unexpected return to EastEnders, ending months of absence that had sparked concern among fans. The character, played by Letitia Dean, reappeared in Tuesday's episode of the BBC soap, which is now available on iPlayer.
Her comeback was kept tightly under wraps, with no prior confirmation in spoilers. Sharon had been away with Michelle Fowler, and her return coincides with the wedding of her sister Vicki Fowler this week.
The episode also featured a double exit twist, as Grant Mitchell and his sister Sam Mitchell fled Walford after a dramatic conclusion to their storyline with Max Branning. The Mitchell siblings' departure was a surprise to viewers.
Sharon had been mentioned in recent episodes, with Phil Mitchell hinting she might return, but the soap deliberately avoided revealing the timing. She had briefly appeared late last year and then disappeared again, making Tuesday's episode her first appearance in 2025.
The return follows the surprise comeback of Whitney Dean, played by Shona McGarty, earlier this week. Whitney met up with ex-boyfriend Zack Hudson and dropped a bombshell, adding to the twists in store.
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
