EastEnders spoilers follow for Tuesday's (August 4) episode, now streaming on BBC iPlayer. The episode airs at 7:30pm on BBC One.
Joel Marshall (Max Murray) made a staggering revelation that left dad Ross (Alex Walkinshaw) reeling. The teen was attacked and left for dead in a park last month, just 45 minutes after a group of fellow teens – furious that Joel was free after what he did to Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig) and Avani Nandra-Hart (Aaliyah James) – tied him up and poured beer over him.
Investigation and Hidden Video
When Joel was found unconscious with a blow to the back of the head, DC Craig Ingram (Matthew James Bailey) launched an investigation, questioning all involved. The parents of the kids kept quiet about Joel being tied to a fencepost, fearing consequences for their children.
Ross uncovered the truth earlier this week when Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) let slip that a video existed of the teens pouring beer over a tied-up Joel. Enraged, Ross contacted Craig, who watched the video and said it would have to be submitted as evidence. Jack Branning (Scott Maslen), whose daughter Amy (Ellie Dadd) was present that night, asked Craig to hold off. Joel also didn't want the video used, saying he just wants to move on.
Hammer Revelation
Another shock came when Craig revealed that Barney Mitchell (Lewis Bridgeman) has come forward with the hammer used to attack Joel. Ross was horrified at the prospect of a hammer being used on his son, but the bigger news came when Joel confirmed he was the one who brought the hammer to the park.
‘For protection’, he said when asked why, ‘in case anyone started anything’. With Barney, Avani and Nugget (Juhaim Rasul Choudhury) seemingly ruled out as suspects, the question remains: who used the weapon to attack Joel?
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One, or streams from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
