Ian Beale's prison storyline is set to resume in EastEnders as he receives a visit from his son, Peter Beale. The character, played by Adam Woodyatt, has been off-screen for several weeks, with his absence explained by his eight-month sentence for unknowingly hitting Jordan Fox with his car while driving over the limit.
Ian, the proprietor of Beale's Plaice, has been separated from his family and forced to spend his days behind bars, aware that he caused life-changing injuries to a child. His situation worsened when he encountered Gray Atkins, the father of Jordan and one of Walford's most prolific serial killers, who was also an inmate.
Gray's Manipulation and the Attack
Gray, played by Toby-Alexander Smith, exploited Ian's fear of not surviving prison, offering him protection in exchange for convincing Chelsea Fox to visit him. Ian managed to arrange the meeting, but Chelsea was horrified to be tricked into seeing her abusive ex-partner. The visit was a distraction while Gray's grandmother Sheila kidnapped Jordan and took him out of the country.
Denise Fox and Kim Fox foiled Gray's scheme, leading Gray to blame Ian for tipping them off. A struggle ensued, during which Gray was stabbed with a makeshift weapon. Gray survived his injuries in hospital, but Ian was apprehended, leaving his future uncertain.
Peter's Visit Brings a Tender Moment
Upcoming scenes will see Peter, played by Thomas Law, visit Ian in prison to update him on life in Walford. The conversation turns into a tender father-son exchange, with Peter reflecting on his happy marriage to Lauren Branning, played by Jacqueline Jossa. Unbeknownst to Peter, the tension between Lauren and Mark Fowler Jr, played by Stephen Aaron-Sipple, is about to escalate.
