EastEnders fans have developed a new theory about the identity of a character who dies in a flashforward episode, suggesting it may not be Penny Branning as previously thought.
The flashforward, set in January 2027, showed Jack Branning caring for a baby boy named Ethan, leading fans to speculate that Penny had died and Jack was raising her child. However, after Penny's pregnancy was confirmed, some viewers now believe this is a red herring.
A popular new theory suggests that Vinny Panesar, the father of Penny's baby, will be killed off as part of a crime plot involving his brother Ravi Gulati and Mark Fowler Jr. One fan commented: 'Penny dying is a red herring. What I can see is Vinny dying, Penny not being able to cope and leaving baby Ethan with Jack.'
Another viewer added: 'I have a feeling it's not Penny that dies, but Vinny. Her support is taken away from her because he is caught in the crossfire between Ravi and the drug lord.'
Some fans also speculate that Penny may be in a coma or hospitalised, with Jack having temporary custody. The flashforward did not show any Panesar family members, leaving their fate ambiguous.
