EastEnders Fans Obsessed with New Character Cleo Despite Two-Episode Stint
EastEnders Fans Obsess Over Cleo Despite Short Stint

EastEnders viewers have fallen in love with new character Cleo, played by theatre star Mazz Murray, within seconds of her debut. The mother of Joel Marshall (Max Murray) arrived on Albert Square this week alongside her abusive son, who was released from prison after attacking stepmum Vicki Fowler (Alice Haig). Despite not speaking a single word in her opening scene, fans took to social media to express their adoration.

Instant Fan Favourite

User Ryan wrote on X: 'Obsessed with Mazz Murray not even uttering a single word while flawlessly sliding across the screen to reveal Joel.' Podcast Albert Square: After Dark echoed: 'She has so far been on screen for two and a half seconds, hasn’t said a word and I already want a regular contract and possibly to have her run the Vic?' Angel K added: 'Obsessed with Cleo having no surname in the end credits.'

Bad News for Fans

Despite the positive reception, Cleo will only appear in two episodes. In upcoming scenes, she reveals that her son can no longer live with her, despite a previous arrangement. This shocks ex Ross Marshall (Alex Walkinshaw) and Vicki, who have returned from their honeymoon.

Behind the Scenes

Mazz Murray, real-life aunt of co-star Max Murray, said: 'It was so wonderful to be part of these EastEnders episodes as we delve into Joel’s familial past, and my experience was made all the better working alongside my talented, gorgeous nephew Max. And also, my childhood school friend Alex Walkinshaw playing my ex-husband!' Mazz previously appeared in EastEnders in 2004 as Miranda and in 2017 as Julie.

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One or streams from 6am on BBC iPlayer.
