CBS Stations and CBS Media Ventures have renewed 'The Drew Barrymore Show' for two additional seasons, ensuring the talk show remains on air until at least 2028. The renewal covers Seasons 7 and 8, with core station groups including Nexstar and Sinclair also signing on. Time period upgrades have been secured in seven of the top 40 markets, including Seattle, Minneapolis, and Cleveland.
The show, produced and distributed by CBS Media Ventures, will continue to air in the top three TV markets—New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago—on CBS stations. This renewal comes amid a shrinking daytime talk show landscape, with the genre facing economic challenges from cheaper video podcasts.
Of the talk shows launched between 1999 and 2022, 'The Drew Barrymore Show' and 'The Jennifer Hudson Show' have been renewed, while 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' and 'Sherri' are ending. The fate of 'Tamron Hall' remains undecided.
Drew Barrymore expressed gratitude, stating the show began as a space for intimate conversation and aims to break the mold of traditional daytime television. The series is experiencing its most-watched season with 1.6 million daily viewers and has grown its digital and social footprint to over 14 million followers, with engagement up 47% year over year.
Last year, the show won its first Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host. Executive producer Jason Kurtz praised Barrymore as a trendsetter who challenges conventions and reimagines the format for a multiplatform world.
