Don't Date Brandon, a three-part documentary series, airs on Channel 4 tonight, Thursday July 31, at 10pm. All three episodes will be shown consecutively and will also be available on the streaming platform.
The story behind the series
The series, originally broadcast on Paramount Plus last year, follows two women, Amber and Athena, who had similar negative experiences in their relationships with the same man, Brandon. They launched a podcast, Ex-Wives Undercover, in 2020 to warn others and give a voice to victims. The official synopsis states: 'When Amber finds out that the man of her dreams, Brandon, is a liar and a cheat, she teams up with his ex-wife, Athena, to start a podcast and warn other women. But as more of his ex-girlfriends come forward, they discover that Brandon isn't just a cheat - he's dangerous too.'
Legal consequences
The investigation led to Brandon Johnson receiving a 10-year prison sentence after he admitted guilt in 2023 to assault and attempted kidnapping with intent to rape. He also admitted to 10 counts of attempted first-degree theft in a separate fraud case, according to People's coverage of the series. Amber revealed in the documentary: 'We always talk about Brandon being a hurricane - you're stuck in the eye of the storm and can't see out, but everyone else can see in.'
