Don't Date Brandon, a three-part true crime docu-series, airs on Channel 4 tonight at 10pm. The series follows Amber and Athena, two women who had similar negative experiences with the same man, Brandon. They team up to start a podcast, Ex-Wives Undercover, to warn other women, but soon uncover an even darker truth.
About the Series
Originally released on Paramount Plus, the series documents how Amber discovers that Brandon is a liar and cheat. She joins forces with his ex-wife, Athena, to launch a podcast. As more ex-girlfriends come forward, they realise Brandon is not just unfaithful but dangerous.
The official synopsis states: "When Amber finds out that the man of her dreams, Brandon, is a liar and a cheat, she teams up with his ex-wife, Athena, to start a podcast and warn other women. But as more of his ex-girlfriends come forward, they discover that Brandon isn't just a cheat - he's dangerous too."
The Podcast and Its Impact
The podcast Ex-Wives Undercover was created in 2020 to give a voice to Brandon's victims and warn others. Amber shared in the doc: "We always talk about Brandon being a hurricane — you're stuck in the eye of the storm and can't see out, but everyone else can see in."
Their investigation led to legal consequences. Brandon Johnson pleaded guilty in 2023 to assault and attempted kidnapping with intent to rape and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. According to People reporting on the docu-series, Johnson also "admitted to 10 counts of attempted first-degree theft in a separate fraud case."
All three episodes will be shown back-to-back tonight, and the series will also be available on Channel 4's streaming service. Don't Date Brandon airs tonight, Thursday, July 30, at 10pm on Channel 4.
