Diane Morgan, known for her roles as Philomena Cunk and Mandy, has created another memorable comedy character in the humanoid robot Linda, featured in the new sitcom Ann Droid. The series airs tonight on BBC One at 9.30pm.
Plot Overview
When widow Sue (Sue Johnston) suffers a fall, her son purchases an outdated care robot named Ann Droid to keep her company and assist with household tasks. However, Sue is skeptical and spitefully renames the robot Linda after her sister, whom she despises. She vows to return the robot after a 48-hour trial period. The question remains: can Linda change Sue's mind?
Although Linda is socially awkward and often more of a hindrance than a help, she possesses a certain charm. The sitcom explores themes of loneliness and grief, blending heartwarming moments with Morgan's signature deadpan humour, ensuring plenty of laughs.
