After reading out the nominations, Sir Trevor hesitated before revealing the winner. O'Leary was seen rolling his eyes and gesturing for Sir Trevor to speed up, prompting accusations of rudeness from the audience at home.
Viewers took to social media to express their disapproval, with many calling O'Leary's behaviour 'disrespectful' and questioning whether Sir Trevor was feeling unwell. One wrote: 'Dermot kinda showed his true colours there.' Another added: 'Dermot is f*****g rude wtf was that.'
Sir Trevor eventually announced Call the Midwife as the winner. Elsewhere at the ceremony, Michael McIntyre took home the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award, while I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! won best reality competition. Gary Lineker was named Best Presenter.
