Alison Hammond announced during Thursday's episode of This Morning that it was her final show before she takes a summer break for the next few weeks. Before the show ended, she and co-host Dermot O'Leary shared a warm hug as she said, 'See you in September, bye!'
However, her absence was addressed early in the episode, with O'Leary telling viewers he was sad. When Hammond asked why, he replied, 'I'm sad because it's your last day for the summer! I'm sad because I won't see you next week.' Hammond responded, 'Aw, not sad; be happy for me! Be happy.' O'Leary then handed her individual flowers from the set as she outlined her summer plans.
The 50-year-old presenter added, 'You know what? I'm going to have a little holiday. I'm going to do some housework. It's going to be great, and I'm going to be watching you on the telly.' She also informed viewers that on Friday, O'Leary would co-host with Loose Women star Olivia Attwood.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Attwood, 34, would join the roster of This Morning presenters for the summer while regular hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley are on a break. Attwood expressed her excitement, saying, 'I'm going to be doing a couple of shows in the summer, I'm very excited to be joining you guys. It's a huge honour.'
Over the coming weeks, ITV viewers will see presenters including Rylan Clark, Sian Welby, Rochelle Humes, Craig Doyle, Emma Willis and Josie Gibson front the show. Shephard and Deeley have thrown their support behind Attwood, telling the ITV star she'll do a 'brilliant' job in her new role.
