Debbie McGee Reveals Strictly's Intense Training Secrets

Debbie McGee, the 59-year-old former magician's assistant and Strictly Come Dancing star, has shared the beauty and lifestyle secrets that keep her looking and performing at her best. Despite missing out on the Glitterball trophy, McGee became a fan favourite for her age-defying appearance and flexibility, even performing the splits three times in one night on the show.

McGee attributes her perfect physique to a combination of yoga, outdoor exercise, a healthy diet, and supplements. She particularly swears by omega and fish-oil supplements, which are known to lower blood pressure and prevent heart disease. She also carries an emergency pack of vitamins to dance rehearsals, saying, 'I always have tablets in my handbag and stick one into my water bottle if I need a bit of energy – it peps me up.'

One unconventional supplement she uses is Active Silver, a silver-based liquid she takes every morning to build up her immune system. The supplement contains colloidal silver, microscopic particles suspended in water believed to ward off infection and boost immunity. Sales of the product have increased 30-fold since McGee revealed her secret. The product is made by Active Silver, launched two years ago by Lucy Roberts and her father Dick Goodall, who has been making colloidal silver for over 20 years.

McGee also maintains her signature ash-blonde hair and bronzed look, despite being a natural brunette. She has been dyeing her hair blonde since the 1990s and uses rollers for styling. She is a fan of fake tan, though she had a mishap before the Blackpool Tower ballroom special when she was caught with fake tan stains on her palms. McGee believes the key to looking your best is to find a style that suits you and stick with it.

McGee will next be seen on BBC2's Pilgrimage: The Road to Santiago, a 15-day trek along the Camino de Santiago in Spain, airing from Friday March 16. She joins other celebrities such as Heather Small and Neil Morrissey on the journey.
