Shantol Jackson, known to BBC Death in Paradise fans as police officer Naomi Thomas, takes on a new role in Sky's supernatural thriller Possession, which is now streaming as a boxset on Sky and NOW.
Plot and Cast
The five-part series follows lawyer Claudia (played by Gugu Mbatha-Raw) as she travels from Bristol to Jamaica to handle a dispute over an inheritance claim. The claim is filed by local Jamaican man Cudjoe East (Sheldon Shepherd) against wealthy aristocrat Oliver Connaught (Jonny Lee Miller), whose estate is the former plantation of Hope Hill.
Upon arriving at the mansion, Claudia discovers it is the house from her nightmares. As she and Oliver investigate the claim, disturbing parallels emerge between past injustices and sinister present-day events.
Creative Team
The series was written by actress and screenwriter Karla Crome, who said: "I feel humbled to be working with such a brilliant team both here and in Jamaica. It is a privilege to see Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Jonny Lee Miller, Sheldon Shepherd and Bel Powley bringing my characters to life under Storm Saulter’s evocative direction and I can’t wait to share our work with audiences."
Jackson's Career
Possession is one of Jackson's more high-profile roles since joining Death in Paradise in 2022. In the latest series, her character Naomi helped a new recruit as the Saint Marie team continued solving cases.
