Emmerdale is set to introduce a new antagonist, with actor Jason Done joining the cast as a character named Steve. The 53-year-old actor, known for roles in Death in Paradise, Waterloo Road, and Coronation Street, is expected to bring significant drama to the Dales.
Jason Done's Soap and TV Background
Jason Done first appeared on Coronation Street in the 1990s as PC Bathurst and also featured in The Bill in 1996. However, he is best remembered for his extended stint as teacher Tom Clarkson in Waterloo Road. More recently, he appeared in Death in Paradise as Connor Faircroft. His other credits include Brassic and The Bill.
ITV Confirms New Villain Role
ITV confirmed to the Mirror that Done will play a character named Steve. A source told The Sun: "This is a huge coup for Emmerdale. They've had massive success with other soap's stars joining the cast and the hope is that Jason will be another hit." The source added that Steve is "a new villain with a surprising connection to the village."
Recent Cast Developments
Emmerdale has seen other recent casting news, including the return of Chris Coghill as Kev Townsend. Actor Bradley Riches, who plays a role in the soap, admitted he had to feign surprise when producers announced Coghill's return, as he had been privately informed by Coghill himself in February. Riches described Coghill as "one of those people who goes with instincts as an actor."
Riches, 24, is currently on leave from the soap after marrying Scott Johnston in April. He noted that Coghill's return has been a positive addition to the set, providing mentorship to younger cast members.
