Death in Paradise welcomes Emmerdale legend in latest episode

Death in Paradise returns with its seventh episode of the series, following DI Mervin Wilson's distressing ordeal in Antigua with his brother Solomon. As Mervin attempts to move past the events, the team investigates the killing of a local newspaper agony aunt, Kim Woods, who is poisoned after her retirement celebration while reading her final advice column.

The episode features a host of guest stars, including actress Sian Reeves, best known for playing Sally Spode in Emmerdale. She takes on the role of Kim Woods. Also appearing are Anna Savva as Hortense LeRoux, Gary Wilmot as Anton Busette, Emma McDonald as Esme LeRoux, Suzette Llewellyn as Calypso Jones, and Peggy William as Dr Fernandez.

Gary Wilmot's character is seen in conversation with DI Mervin Wilson at The Saint Marie News, suggesting he may be the editor and Kim's superior. Meanwhile, Hortense LeRoux is photographed glancing around at what might be the retirement celebration, leaving viewers questioning her intentions. The boy who delivers newspapers is swiftly eliminated as a suspect, leaving the team to determine how Kim was specifically targeted.

Elsewhere, Commissioner Selwyn Patterson has been advocating for Mervin to undergo counselling after his time in Antigua. Although Mervin initially shows resistance, he eventually consents and is seen engaging in a private session with Dr Fernandez, marking Peggy William's most prominent television role to date.

Death in Paradise concludes on Friday, March 20, at 9pm on BBC One.
