Death in Paradise Fans Spot Widow's Bay Star in Repeat

Death in Paradise fans were quick to recognize actress Kate O'Flynn in a recent repeat episode of the BBC show. O'Flynn, 40, is best known for her standout role as Patricia Moyer in the hit series Widow's Bay. The repeat episode, which aired on Wednesday night, was series 11, episode five, originally broadcast in 2022.

Episode Details and Neville's Sister Izzy

In the episode, Ralf Little portrayed lead character DI Neville Parker, before his departure from the show in 2024. The storyline centered on a young pop star found dead at a rehabilitation clinic. Initially, the death appeared to be a tragic accident, but Neville remained convinced there was more to the case.

The episode also marked the introduction of Neville's sister, Izzy. Neville was far from delighted by her unexpected visit, especially since she had kept it a secret. Izzy promptly began meddling in his affairs, adding tension to the storyline.

Kate O'Flynn's Role and Recognition

Actress Kate O'Flynn portrayed Izzy across three episodes. Viewers immediately recognized her from her performance in Widow's Bay. Her other credits include Fiona Lewis in Everyone Else Burns, Princess Mary in My Lady Jane, and Alice in Bridget Jones's Baby, among many others.

When the episode originally aired, fans were quick to place O'Flynn. One viewer commented: "I recognise Izzy from somewhere!" Another posted: "Where have I seen Izzy before! ? @deathinparadise she looks very familiar #DeathInParadise!"

No Return for Izzy After Neville's Departure

There is little chance of Izzy returning to Death in Paradise, as her on-screen brother Neville left the series in 2024. After four years on Saint Marie, Neville decided to leave for good to explore the wider world. Don Gilet has since taken over the lead role as DI Mervin Wilson.

Reflecting on his arrival in 2024, Gilet said: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands. This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled and dedicated. Even during those testing times when every sinew is screaming at me to run off the set and dive into the sea, swimming pool or an ice-cold beer – whichever happens to be closer at the time!"

Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
