Dean Fagan, best known for his role as Luke Britton on Coronation Street, is starring in the new Channel 5 thriller Missed Call. The series follows a mother, played by Joanna Scanlan, who races to France after her daughter vanishes during a school exchange. Fagan portrays Neil Scott, the teacher supervising the trip.
The actor, from Withington in South Manchester, studied at the University of Salford and appeared in the film Treasure of Albion before graduating. He later played bassist Mikey Craig in the Boy George biopic Worried About the Boy. Fagan joined Coronation Street in 2014 and remained for four years, describing the experience as more nerve-wracking than joining the Irish drama Smother.
Reflecting on his time on the soap, Fagan told TV Now: 'Coronation Street had been going by the time I got in there, so I would argue that it's more nerve-wracking coming into something like that. It's an institution.' He added that the set felt like a 'big, massive machine' that just keeps going. Fagan also recently appeared in Gladiator II as a champion of the fighting pits.
On a personal note, Fagan shares two children with his long-term partner Louise Pridding. He proposed to her in 2017 while on holiday in Spain, posting on Instagram: 'After making her wait 9 nearly 10 years! I finally led her down a dark path and asked her to marry me.' The couple remain together and are blissfully content.
Fagan described Missed Call as 'a full-on, proper good show' with twists and turns built on the worst fears a parent can have. The series was filmed in Montpellier, France, and features a cracking cast and top production.
