Dannii Minogue is set to return to acting after 35 years, starring in a new Channel 5 drama called Imposter. The 53-year-old Australian singer and television personality will appear alongside former Coronation Street star Kym Marsh and Neighbours icon Jackie Woodburne.
Minogue first gained fame as an actress playing Emma Jackson in the Australian soap Home and Away from 1989 to 1990, before launching a successful music career with hits such as 'Put the Needle on It' and serving as a judge on The X Factor from 2007 to 2010. More recently, she has hosted dating shows I Kissed A Boy and I Kissed A Girl for the BBC.
The four-part drama Imposter, currently filming in Victoria, Australia, follows a family torn apart by betrayal and murder. Woodburne, who has played Susan Kennedy on Neighbours since 1994, features as the family matriarch.
A source told The Sun: 'Bosses have spent weeks trying to get Dannii and she finally put pen to paper just days before filming started. It’s been decades since she’s acted on the small screen and everyone at the channel is over the moon that she was able to make the dates work because she loved the script. She started filming last week after meeting her fellow cast members.' The Mirror has contacted representatives for comment.
