Dani Dyer has revealed she felt like a 'failure' after her son Santiago's birth ended in an unplanned emergency Caesarean section. The new mother opened up about the emotional experience on her podcast Sorted With The Dyers.
The 27-year-old explained that she had never wanted a C-section and it was not part of her birth plan. She said: 'The baby didn't want to come out, my waters broke and I was at five centimetres and he wasn't dilating. I ended up having to have a c-section, it was an emotional day.'
Describing the procedure as 'scary', she said she was paralysed and could not feel anything. The recovery was hard, but her partner Sammy was 'brilliant' and she needed someone to laugh with. She urged other women not to feel guilty about C-sections, saying: 'Don't feel guilty about it, that was my problem.'
Dani also discussed the 'baby blues', saying she would cry looking at her son and constantly wonder if she was doing enough. She found breastfeeding difficult but said it was incredible what her body had gone through. Dani presents the podcast with her father, EastEnders actor Danny Dyer.
