Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has opened up about a brutal nickname he was given during his school years following a "public humiliation" by his PE teacher. The 61-year-old BBC stalwart, known for his harsh critiques on the show, recounted the mortifying incident on the Judgemental podcast, which he co-hosts with fellow judge Anton du Beke.
Horwood explained that after returning from the Easter break, having eaten a lot of chocolate, his PE teacher singled him out. "You've put on so much weight, I'm going to use you as an example, and you will take your shirt off, in front of the class, and you will run around the oval in front of the class so they all watch," the teacher said. When Anton du Beke asked what nickname he was given, Horwood replied: "T**s."
Du Beke was visibly amused by the revelation, but the conversation later turned to their differing views on takeaways. Du Beke admitted he "doesn't like the concept" of ordering takeaway food and said his nine-year-old twins, George and Henrietta, never ask for it. "I'd rather just go to a restaurant," he said.
In contrast, Horwood confessed his "guilty pleasure" is double pepperoni pizza, which he buys from the supermarket and bakes at home. He noted that he sometimes has to wear elasticated trousers to accommodate his indulgences, but only partakes on special occasions.
