Craig Doyle: 'It's hard' in sad home life confession

This Morning host Craig Doyle has made a rare confession about his home life with his wife and children, admitting it's 'hard' to manage his kids' social media use.

The Irish presenter is a father to four children: Elsa (born November 2010), Muireann (born 2005), Milo (born 2007), and their oldest Quinn. He shares the children with his wife Doon, whom he married in 2002.

Social media discussion

On Tuesday (August 18), Craig appeared on This Morning alongside co-host Angela Scanlon and discussed the latest news with guests Ashley James and Nick Ferrari. The conversation turned to social media and its effects on children.

Craig declared: “Our kids won’t come off it, unless we come off it.” He added: “I’m not on any social media. I have been for two years and it’s made my life so much better. More time, more freedom you just don’t worry about as much stuff and you don’t have that anxiety that comes with it.”

When Nick asked if his children were off it too, Craig replied: “We monitor it a bit more but they dip in and we try and pull them back. It’s hard.”

Family life

Craig usually keeps his personal life low-key. However, he previously told the Belfast Telegraph about his children: “I’d have a whole bundle if it were up to me – I love kids. Doon’s full-time with them. She keeps the ship rolling; she’s amazing. I go to work but I’m really only doing my hobby. She has a hell of a lot more patience than me.”

He met his wife Doon while she was working part-time in a gym before she started college. Speaking to RTÉ, he recalled: “I was home in Ireland just before I started on Tomorrow’s World and a mate of mine said to me ‘Doyler! Ya gotta meet this bird! I tried my heart out with her but it isn’t happening.’ She was working in the gym part-time before she started college and I went along to the gym. I didn’t even have gym gear with me. I had a pair of shorts and a pair of shoes, I looked like a kn*b and I met her and I thought ‘holy god!’”

He added: “We were on our third date, the kissing date, and we were in Greystones and we had a drink and we were out walking and as I left, I shook her hand. Complete nerd. She looked at me like I was a real tw*t and said ‘that was the kissing date. Why didn’t you kiss me?’ I was scared. I fancied her you see.”

This Morning airs Monday to Friday at 10am on ITV1.
