Coronation Street star Sally Carman has teased that her character Abi Webster is set for a feud with Tracy Barlow amid her ongoing affair storyline. The actress, who plays the mechanic, is currently embroiled in a secret romance with her brother-in-law Carl Webster, played by Jonathan Howard.
Appearing on Wednesday's This Morning, Carman was asked about what lies ahead for Abi. While she remained tight-lipped on details, she hinted at Tracy's involvement with just two words: "Tracy Barlow." The soap legend, portrayed by Kate Ford, has already been involved in the drama, with Carl having previously flirted with her before choosing Abi.
Upcoming scenes will see Carl flirt with Tracy once more, telling her he is staying in room 101 at the Chariot Square Hotel. However, when he is preparing to meet Abi, Tracy appears at his door and is turned away. Later, Carl makes it clear to Abi that he rejected Tracy, while an unknowing Debbie Webster encourages Tracy to pursue him further. The situation takes a turn when Tracy spots an intimate moment between Carl and Abi through a kitchen window, leaving her reaction unknown but potentially explosive.
Speaking about the public's response to the storyline, Carman revealed that fans are not happy with her character's actions. "You cannot mess with Kevin Webster, I have been handbagged in the street. People are not happy with me," she said, adding: "And Mike Le Vell, absolute legend, absolute dreamboat. I'm Team Kev!"
The affair comes amid Kevin's recent health battle, having been diagnosed with testicular cancer earlier this year. He was given the all-clear but opted not to tell Abi as he sensed something was wrong. The truth eventually emerged, and Abi chose to stay with Kevin to try to make their marriage work. Meanwhile, Carl, who was sacked from Kevin's garage over dodgy deals, has been keeping quiet after Kevin bought his silence by asking him to lie about his health status.
