Dr Gaddas (Christine Mackie) is set to return to Coronation Street next week, marking her first appearance since July 2025. The beloved doctor, who has made sporadic appearances in the ITV soap since 2014, will be back on the cobbles after a 14-month hiatus.
Last seen at Speed Daal
In her previous appearance, Dr Gaddas was collecting a takeaway from Speed Daal when she encountered Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell). She informed him that his oncologist had confirmed he was cancer-free, unaware that Kevin had lied to his wife Abi (Sally Carman) about his results, claiming he needed further treatment.
Kevin had been diagnosed with testicular cancer in February 2025, during a turbulent period for the family. His marriage to Abi deteriorated over the following months, and he fabricated the all-clear to prevent her from leaving him. When the truth emerged, Abi left Kevin for his brother Carl (Jonathan Howard), with whom she had been having an affair—a relationship that also ended in disaster.
A long history on the cobbles
Dr Gaddas has delivered both good and bad news to Coronation Street characters since 2014. One of her first patients was Max Turner, whom she diagnosed with ADHD, followed by Beth Tinker, who developed a rash after using a bath bomb made by her niece Sinead.
Christine Mackie's history with the show predates her role as Dr Gaddas. In 1989, she appeared in one episode as a nurse, returned in 1992 for two episodes as Chris Jones, and in 2010 played Bella in another two-episode stint.
What brings her back?
With Dr Gaddas returning to screens next week, fans are left wondering what brings her back to Weatherfield and whether one of the cobbles' favourite residents should be worried.
