Debbie Webster (Sue Devaney) has been left shaken after receiving a glimpse into her future on Coronation Street, prompting her to research assisted dying.
Following her dementia diagnosis, Debbie is determined not to let the condition dictate her life. However, a recent incident in Sally Metcalfe's garden, where she failed to recognise Tim Metcalfe and called him a pervert, served as a stark reminder of the challenges ahead.
A distressing encounter
Debbie's fears were compounded when she witnessed an elderly woman, Sadie, looking lost and confused on the cobbles. Sadie turned out to be the mother of Sienna, the girlfriend of Asha Alahan. Seeing Sadie's distress and Sienna's desperation to help left Debbie deeply panicked.
Later, Bernie Winter found Debbie at the hotel, frantically closing her laptop. When Bernie opened it, she discovered Debbie had been researching assisted dying. Debbie confided that she doesn't want to reach a point where she no longer knows who she is.

Bernie, drawing on her own experience with son Paul Foreman, who had similar thoughts after his MND diagnosis, advised Debbie to speak with Ronnie Bailey. Debbie, however, concluded she would do it 'when the time is right'.
